Getting Back on the Healthy Living Wagon!

We all know that some times of year (immediately after the Easter Bunny has visited, for example) tend to make us sit back and evaluate things. If your anything like me, right after the chocolate fest is both a great and terrible time to evaluate that fabulous four-letter word: DIET.

Whether you have a specific health goal in mind, you’re looking to reduce inflammation to help with fertility, wanting to lessen the symptoms of an autoimmune condition, or you just want to shed those extra Hot Cross Bun kilos, I’m sure we’ve all looked at what we’ve been eating with consternation or frustration.

While there is rarely a “one size fits all” approach, we believe Autoimmune Paleo (or AIP for short!) is as close as it gets.

You can catch our last piece on AIP here for the science of how what you eat affects your immune system, especially for autoimmune conditions.

Why Do We Love AIP?

  1. There are a lot of reasons why we think AIP is a great diet option for a lot of people.

  2. It specifically eliminates known common immune irritating foods.

  3. It's not a 'forever diet'. Once you're feeling much better, you get to add foods back in!

  4. It becomes a customized food plan for you. Everyone has different foods that upset them. Once you've worked out what those are for you, you can just avoid them and add other foods back in.

  5. There's already scientific studies done and more on the way for AIP & Eczema, Hashimotos, Psoriasis and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. We also love AIP for Graves, elevated NK cells, or other elevated autoimmune markers such as ANA.

  6. Even if you don't have an AI condition, this involves no calorie counting, leaves you full and energized! And most people lose weight on it too.

(If you don't have weight to lose, ensure you add white rice or sweet potato to your meals. If you're vegetarian, add in dairy for your protein)

Won’t AIP Diet Be Really Hard?

My goodness, this is the fun part! Even if you don't have lots of time to cook or have kids or a partner who won’t totally eat AIP - here are some ace tools for you!

There are a boatload of free AIP recipes here including recipes you can make in 30 minutes or less, 1 pot recipes, simple & easy recipes, breakfast options, snacks, seafood and more.

Wait for it! We can help you make it even easier! There’s an inexpensive online tool called Real Plans with 200+ AIP recipes and simple meal planners. You can make changes such as avoiding specific foods, wanting more leftovers or extra portions if you're feeding more people.

The best part?? It all syncs to make you a shopping list with the exact ingredients and amounts you need. Make a change to the meal planner? The shopping list AUTOMATICALLY UPDATES.

How cool is that!!
