Period Pain Acupuncture Research

There are loads of great research on Acupuncture for period pain Endometriosis.

  • An Australian study by Armour et al found "Acupuncture treatment reduced menstrual pain intensity and duration after three months of treatment and this was sustained for up to one YEAR after".

  • Abaraogu et al concluded Acupressure showed evidence of pain relief while acupuncture improved both the mental and the physical components of quality of life” but acknowledged that more high quality of research was needed.

  • Xu et al acknowledged more high quality studies need to be done but from the current data found “Moxibustion and acupoint therapy can relieve pain effectively for individuals with PD, and these treatments have advantages in overall efficiency”

  •  Kim et al found that “this review demonstrates the cost-effectiveness of acupuncture” including for Dysmenorrhea

  • While it acknowledges that additional high quality studies are needed, this 2017 Meta-analysis of Acupuncture effects on Endometriosis related pain found a reduction in pain AND a reduction in CA-125 (marker that’s associated with Endometriosis).

Period Pain FAQs

  • After reviewing the info in your intake form, we help you understand what might be contributing to your pain and our plan to help you.

Natural Relief: Acupuncture offers a natural and drug-free alternative to managing period pain. By stimulating specific points in the body, it encourages the flow of energy and helps alleviate menstrual discomfort.

Personalized Treatment Plans: Our experienced Chinese Medicine Practitioners create personalized treatment plans based on your individual health profile. This ensures that you receive targeted care that addresses the root causes of your pain.

Balancing Energy: Acupuncture is rooted in the belief that the body has a vital energy force known as Qi. By restoring balance to this energy flow, Acupuncture promotes harmony within the body, potentially reducing the intensity and duration of menstrual pain.

In more ‘science-y’ terms, we increase pelvic blood flow, reduce pain messages received and encourage your body out of fight or flight mode for optimal hormonal regulation!

Holistic Well-Being: Beyond pain relief, acupuncture promotes holistic well-being by addressing other associated symptoms such as mood swings, fatigue, and bloating. Experience a more balanced and harmonious menstrual cycle.

Safe and Relaxing: Acupuncture is a safe and non-invasive procedure, making it an attractive option for those seeking natural remedies for menstrual pain without the side effects associated with medication.
As it switches you out of fight or flight mode and is deeply relaxing, many of our clients fall asleep in their sessions!
